Literature Text

The pretty, young blonde woman walked out of her new house for just a brief moment. It was 9:47 PM at night and the true love of her life had just died the day before, leaving her half of his entire earnings (which was quite a bit) and his house. But, no amount of kindness could stop the flow of tears that followed his death. She was in her room sobbing for the entire day. But, for this moment, she had stopped crying, if not for a few minutes. Something in her heart had wanted her to come out right then. She looked up at the dark sky, with all of the twinkling stars. She wiped at her eyes, as she could feel the tears coming on, making her eyes twinkle like the stars above her.

“How many people are crying up there?”, she wondered, with the unstoppable tears stinging her eyes. One of the stars twinkled brightly, and she turned her head to look at it. This one was the brightest one by far, and it looked the closest to the ground. The closest to Mary. She shook her head sadly, looking at the ground.

“Why did you have to go so soon, Fred? I need you,” she whispered. She looked back up at the star. She sighed.

“Somewhere out there,
Beneath the pale moonlight.
Someone’s thinking of me,
And loving me tonight…”

A pure voice was carried on the wind, meeting Mary’s ears, and continuing the song.

“Somewhere out there,
Someone’s saying a prayer,
That we’ll find one another,
In that big somewhere out there…”

Mary stared at the star, and, almost without realizing, heard that the voice sounded much closer to her then it did before. She recognized the voice immediately.

“Fred?”

Almost as an affirmative, the voice continued the song. Mary felt something hold onto her shoulder, with a soft, comforting grip.

“And even though I know
How very far apart we are,
It helps to think we might be wishing
On the same bright star…”

Mary turned around and found the source of the voice. Restored to his happiest year, in ghost form, was her best friend, Freddie Mercury. A smile spread slowly across her face, and the same happened to Freddie, his overbite clearly visible. She sang the next part, trying hard to sound good.

“And when the night wind starts to sing
A lonesome lullaby,
It helps to think we’re sleeping
Underneath the same big sky…”

She hugged Freddie tightly, smiling broadly as tears streamed down her face, knowing fully that he really was there, comforting her while she went through this horrible, sad time in her life. Even if it was for such a short time, just finishing the song, it felt wonderful to see him once again. Freddie held her at arms length, wiping her tears away and smiling softly at her. They stood side by side, both looking up at the bright star, smiling. They finished the song together.

“Somewhere out there,
If love can see us through,
Then we’ll be together,
Somewhere out there,
Out where
Dreams come true…”

They hugged each other affectionately, and Freddie kissed her on the head, brushing a few strands of stray hair out of her face. Mary smiled a little, feeling the tears come back.

“Why do you look so young, Fred? You were young when you died, yes, but you look 28.”

Freddie smiled softly at her.

“My dear, when I died, I was restored to the happiest year of my life.”

“How was that th--”

“That was the year we started dating, remember? That was the happiest year of my life by far, darling. ”

Mary couldn’t help crying a little. Freddie pulled her into a hug, smiling lovingly, and waited patiently for her to finish. When she did, she rested her head on his chest, sniffling. Freddie looked up at the star.

“It’s almost time for me to go. And, if you ever need me, all you need to do is think of me, and I’ll be there with you. But, no matter what, I will always be with you.”

He kissed her and let her out of the hug. He took a few steps back, fading quickly. Mary sobbed silently, and waved.

“Good-bye, Fred. I love you.”

Freddie smiled at her and waved back.

“I love you, too, dear. Good-bye…Old Faithful.”

He disappeared as soon as he finished talking. Mary sighed, and walked back to the door. With her hand on the doorknob, she turned around to catch one last glimpse of the bright star before she went back in. It twinkled a few times and Mary smiled, her eyes twinkling as well.

“I love you, too.”
As I was listening to Somewhere Out There, this came to my mind. So, I wrote it down. XD Tell me if I could make any improvements. :3
Besides it popping into my head, the song seemed to fit the situation very well.
Slight Mercumary. <3333
